| Dear Blankhelp, I am often finding viruses, and trojan programs in my email, what is the best free antivirus software? I understand that often you get what you pay for, but someone at work mentioned there was one free antivirus program that you can download for free. He didn't know the name, but I wondered if you knew about this mythical software? thank you, Steve |

| Dear Steve, We can't read your co-worker's mind, but we do have an option for the best free antivirus software. First let me say this, the fact that you can physically get software for free (copied by a friend, find a disk, etc) it doesn't mean you have permission to use it. So when we say "best free antivirus software" it is that under certain conditions you can use it for free. Now that is OK, AVP is our choice. AVP is free to home users under it's End User Licensing Agreement. Now read AVP's software license to be sure you meet the conditions for their permission to use their antivirus software for free. Just some tips, we suggest that you use more than one antivirus program. Use one for 24 and 7 protection, this case AVP antivirus software is setup for this situation. Then use a second scanner to perform monthly scans. We recommend in that case, Panda Antivirus. Now this is a paid antivirus program, but many free online antivirus scanners use Panda's Antivirus Engine. Now if you want a paid program, Panda Antivirus is a very good antivirus, but in its install process, it will tell you to uninstall AVP, so then you need to get another 'second' antivirus program for occasional scans.
