Symptoms and signs of high cholesterol? High Cholesterol Signs? |
Question And Answer Category: Cholesterol |

Question: |
Dear BlankHelp Team,
I was wondering, What are the symptoms and signs of high cholesterol?
Not saying I have it, just that I've noticed everyone around me at work seems to admit they have high cholesterol. I asked if there were any signs of high cholesterol, but everyone only found out through some blood testing. Usually by accident, since they were at the doctor for something other than a cholesterol reading.
So, if I hang out with my coworkers, go out to lunch with them, and they have high cholesterol, can I have high cholesterol too?
Thanks,
Worried-Dude.
P.S. I don't feel different, just wondering about warning signs of high cholesterol. |

Our Advice and Answer: |
Dear Worried-Dude,
First let us say one thing, if you have any concerns about your health, you need to talk to your health care provider.
Second, considering the common understanding that high cholesterol can lead to complicated health conditions that may threaten your life, and you are worried, you need to see your health care provider quickly. Life has the knack for giving 'feelings' or 'worries' when there is a real concern. We call it, Intuition, Gut-feeling, etc, but what ever you call it, act on it.
Should you not have high cholesterol, so be it. No need to feel embarrassed, you doctor will educate you on how you can make lifestyle changes to not gain a high cholesterol condition, and we are sure base-line blood-work will help your doctor in the future should a serious illness occur.
OK, now that we've tried to scare you into seeing your doctor, since we are not your health care provider, let's get back to your question: Symptoms and signs of high cholesterol?
As far as we know, there aren't any outward signs and symptoms of high cholesterol. Meaning that you cannot determine a person's cholesterol levels just looking at him or her. There are some life-style observations one can make about a person that would lend to concern about cholesterol levels, but each person is different. One one source of cholesterol is life-style, the other is genetics. I'm sure we've all seen the latest high cholesterol drug commercials. ;)
So the answer we can offer is, only blood testing will give any results associated with high cholesterol signs. So see your doctor for regular check-ups.
Sincerely,
The BlankHelp Team.
