New Computer, No internal Floppy Disk Drive. |
Question And Answer Category: Computer Hardware |

Question: |
Dear Blankhelp Team,
I bought a mail order new computer, but it came with no floppy disk drive. The company said I can send the computer back and they will be glad to install one. This option is very expensive. I have many software program backups on floppy disk, so a floppy disk drive is needed.
Thank you,
Arron

Our Advice and Answer: |
Dear Arron,
It sounds like you noticed the computer hardware industry movement from floppy disks drives. They add cost to the computer, and many people don't like they are limited to 1.44 meg. So many people don't want them.
Your options seem to be this, if you have to use a floppy disk drive, we recommend you look into a USB floppy drive. This is a floppy disk drive that plugs into your USB port. Once you do, I recommend you back up programs with a media that can store material, data, and is readily accessible from other computers. A USB thumb drive is a nice option. Even with older computers, can be upgraded to read usb thumb drives.
So, try and find a usb floppy drive kit, and then evaluate upgrading your media. Wish you luck, and tell us how it worked out.
Sincerely,
The BlankHelp Team |
