| Dear Blankhelp, I took a pregnancy test, and it was negative. My friend said it could be a false negative, meaning my pregnancy test gave me a negative but false. I'm kinda confused, I thought these tests were like almost 100% accurate? Can a pregnancy test give a false negative? Sorry for the babble, but kinda got a mind in overdrive. Pam |

| Dear Pam, Yes the anticipation of being pregnant can stir up many emotions, so we understand if your mind is working in overdrive. Your friend it correct, based on a one of our team member's own recent experience. His wife and him had tried to conceive their next child, and after a couple of months, the Wife thought she was pregnant. 6th sense, woman's intuition, what ever, she was sure. Her pregnancy tests showed a negative pregnancy test result. After reading the instructions further it seems that the 99% accuracy statement is only true closer you get to your normal menstrual cycle start date. Only a few days prior, the test she took had a 1 in 5 failure rate for actually pregnant women testing. After a few days, a second test, it was clear the prior test was a false negative pregnancy test. Our suggestion to protect yourself from false negative pregnancy tests, you need to read and follow the manufacturer's instructions. We hope regardless of the results, you handle this emotional time with a clear head. Have fun, and take care of yourself, this way if you are pregnant, you are automatically taking care of your baby.
