| Dear Speed-Check, You are right, we too have had run ins with wanting to buy a radar detector, but looking for reviews you can trust seem scarce. We were hoping that a reputable third-party company like "Consumer Reports" would do a radar detector comparison, but no luck. Radar Detectors have a social stigma attached to them, lie you are trying to get away with speeding, but any reasonable radar detector users knows, having one helps prevent accidents. Due to the fact Cops hang out in areas with high accident rates, and 'stupid' speeders. It's nice to know a head of time, that an area might be dangerous. Well, radar detector reviews. We were baffled, so we did a typical search engine for "radar detector reviews" and found sites promoting the products they sold. Not a very independent review of radar detectors. So we looked around, and decided to ask around, and we found out something, what is one person's best radar detector isn't the next. Example: It is a consensus that Valentine One, and Escort 8500 are the best radar detectors at detecting radar guns at a distance. But at their prices, some people felt put off against these radar detectors. Also, depending on the area you drive, you might not need really high end detector, since you might live in state where only state police can use radar guns. So, if money is no problem, check out Valentine One and Escort 8500. Both were revered as the best at detecting radar, and ask around. Besides, you might have a cop friend, ask him when he pulled over speeders, what radar detector did he see on the dash.
