My cat urinated, and I have serious cat urine! |

Question: |
Hello BlankHelp Team,
My cat urinated, and I have serious cat urine! It seems that Fluffy, our cat, had a temporary urinary track infection. Which caused her to spontaneously urinate where she was standing. She was in such discomfort, we didn't have the heart to yell and scream at her. After we first identified the cat urine stained rugs, through the cat urine odor we instantly called our doctor, and isolated Fluffy to a room that could be easily cleaned up. Removing cat urine for a tiled bathroom floor is easier than rugs.
OK, so now the emergency is over, Fluffy is better, and we want to find out how to remove serious cat urine odor from our rugs. It seems all the cat urine is isolated to a few spots, we have them marked out with cans, but we weren't sure how to find a cat urine remover that works.
So, BlankHelp Team how do I choose a cat urine remover that works on serious cat urine?
Thank you,
Marie |

Our Advice and Answer: |
Hello Marie,
Glad to her you took the proper right steps in getting rid of cat urine smell, eliminating the source. Fluffy we are sure wasn't well, and didn't mean to make accidents, but you already know that, and are taking good care of Fluffy. Good job.
OK, to remove serious cat urine odor, you can't 'clean' it in the same way you would clean a smell. Rather than remove it, you need to break it down.
So in our option, if the items, this case you mentioned a rug, aren't damaged, you can instantly try to remove remaining urine. Towels, steam cleaner, etc. Once you have as much cat urine removed, you have to 'break down' the rest with cat urine eating enzymes. There are many products in the market, and all work to some degree, but we have a favorite from one of our person experiences. First let us say, no cat urine cleaning product will work is you do not follow its directions fully. Don't be surprised if they have you laying plastic over sections of carpeting you are trying to get rid of the cat urine from.
OK, our choice based on positive feedback, "Simple Solution." Simple Solution, can be picked up at a local pet store, but we found it at PetSmart. We had a cat that became stressed and had accidents, and we tried a few products, but Simple Solution worked best. It has a vanilla smell to help cover the cat urine odor, and with simple applications you can see results as fast as a few days. Although, breaking down urine might take weeks. We used sheet of aluminum foil over the areas we applied Simple Solution, to keep the cat urine cleaner wet.
Remember there are many cat urine remover products, but you want one that 'breaks down' or 'eats' the cat urine, since without fully removing the effected item, the cat urine will remain there.
We wish you best of luck, results may vary, and remember patience is needed with any pet care, and especially removing cat urine from rugs.
Sincerely,
The BlankHelp Team.
